The Propeller Club of the U.S. Port of New Orleans will honor Arnold W. Donald, President & CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, as their 2015 Maritime Person of the Year at their 82ndAnnual Maritime Person of the Year Gala on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside’s Napoleon Ballroom, 2 Poydras St.
An agreement signed today by Port of New Orleans officials and industry leaders from the Central Ohio River corridor could help spur commerce between the two regions.
The Port of New Orleans is set to host the 2nd Annual Maritime Workforce Summit and Career Expo presented by WWL-TV’s ‘We Choose Louisiana.”

Today, in appreciation of the key role truckers play in trade and in the economy, the Port of New Orleans launched a series of activities in conjunction with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. The Port kicked off a week of events and giveaways this morning as volunteers hand delivered re-usable water bottles, re-usable trash receptacles and more to truck drivers at the entry to the Clarence Henry Truckway, a dedicated two-lane roadway on Port property.

Carnival Cruise Line – New Orleans’ number one cruise operator – continues to expand its presence at the port and expects to carry a record 400,000 passengers from the Crescent City this year. Additionally, the cruise line estimates that next year it will welcome its three millionth passenger at the Port of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005.

The Port of New Orleans launched a promotional ad today on WWL-TV Channel 4. The 30-second “We Choose Louisiana” ad will be broadcast through November on New Orleans’ CBS affiliate and through the station’s digital media platforms.
Green Marine, a North American environmental certification program for the marine, port and terminal industry, officially recognized the Port of New Orleans recently as a certified Green Port.
The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), the unified and recognized voice of seaports in the Americas, recognized the Port of New Orleans today with five communications awards. Winning entrants in AAPA’s 48th annual Communications Awards Program will be recognized at a Nov. 4 awards luncheon in conjunction with AAPA’s 104th Annual Convention and Expo in Miami, which runs Nov. 2-4.

The Port of New Orleans and CN (TSX: CNR) (NYSE: CN) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will see the parties develop greater supply chain efficiencies aimed at drawing more container traffic through the Port to North American markets.
Today the World Trade Center of New Orleans announced that Michael W. Kearney, Chairman and CEO of The Kearney Companies Inc., has been selected to receive the 2015 C. Alvin Bertel Award. Mr. Kearney will be honored at the annual C. Alvin Bertel Award ceremony and luncheon on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. The C. Alvin Bertel Award was established in 1967 and is presented each year to an individual who has made significant contributions to the Louisiana port community.
Gov. Bobby Jindal appointed New Orleans businessman Arnold B. Baker to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans this week. Baker, who was sworn in during today’s monthly Board meeting, will serve a five-year term, succeeding Daniel F. Packer, as one of four Orleans Parish representatives on the seven-member regional Board that governs Port operations in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes.
